Mr. Quarles, currently a Managing Director at the Carlyle Group in Washington DC, was Under Secretary of the Treasury for Domestic Finance under President George W. Bush. While at the Treasury, Mr. Quarles played a central role in responding to several international debt crises - the Argentine debt default, as well as near defaults in Brazil, Turkey, and Uruguay.
